air fryer doughnuts

One of my favourite treats to make in my Air Fryer are Doughnuts. I love eating them almost as much as I love decorating them!

Ingredient Checklist

250 g White bread flour
1 tbsp Sugar
7 g Dried yeast
1 tbsp Melted butter
1 Medium egg
100 ml Warm milk
150 g Icing sugar

My Discovery

My kids love doughnuts.. and to be honest so do I! It's not just the taste, it's the fun we have decorating too. They're not for everyday but as a treat they are unbeatable.

Store bought doughnuts are great but often pricey, so i've been searching for a way to make them at home. Unfortunately the deep fat fryer is usually the best place for this which coats them in oil, and is a bit of a faff.

When I discovered that people were making doughnuts in their air fryers I had to give it a try. Taking inspiration from an online recipe, I've tweaked and adjusted to make delicious air fryer doughnuts, with much less oil!


Step 1

Mix flour, sugar, yeast and salt into a bowl

Step 2

Whisk the egg

Step 3

Make a pool and add butter, egg and milk

Step 4

Knead for 10 or 15 minutes

I know it's a pain but the result is worth while!

Step 5

Move the fixture into a bowl and cover with a cloth

Leave for an hour or until it doubles in size

Step 6

Knead again and roll to 1cm thick and cut into doughnut shapes

I use the lid of a round tupperware container for this

Cover and leave for 30 minutes

Step 8

Brush the doughnuts with butter

Step 9

Air frying time!

Air fry for 5 minutes at 440 F, turn, then air fry for a further 5 minutes

Step 10

Leave to cool for approximately 30 minutes

I know it's tempting to start decorating straight away..

Step 11

Ice and add toppings as you please

Serve and enjoy!
